New Year Resolution
December 31, 2014
I’m not one for making New Year resolutions but as 2014 draws to a close, I do like to reflect on what happened this year.
On a personal level, we’ll always remember 2014 as the year we said goodbye to Pa. My father-in-law Max was a good, hard-working man who only wanted his family to be happy. We raised a glass of red to him on Christmas Day and we’ll do the same tonight. My best wishes to everyone who has lost someone close this year.
Nick became a teenager and started high school in 2014 and he managed to navigate his way through it without too many problems. Talia had a great year with a lovely teacher and capped it off by becoming a Prefect for 2015. I’m very proud of them both.
My second book, Alphabet Soup was published and I am so grateful for all the support given to me by so many people. To everyone who bought it, thank you!
I’ve had a rewarding year with Seven News & Sunday Night and I also got to try something new in radio. The team at SmoothFM has made me feel so welcome and I was particularly chuffed to receive the ACRA for best newcomer. It seems you can teach an old dog new tricks!
My footy teams had a mixed year – some highs and lows. But we’ll be there again in 2015 with both the GWS Giants and the Whittlesea Football & Netball Club - cheering every triumph and sharing every loss. A great bunch of people at both clubs and I’m proud to wear their colours.
I hope I’ve been able to make a contribution to the charities I represent & actively support - Make-A-Wish Australia, World Vision Australia, The Alannah and Madeline Foundation, The George Gregan Foundation, Adopt Change, Westmead Children's Hospital, Children's Cancer Institute Australia, Healthy Harold & Life Education, as well as the others that I have been able to support from time to time throughout the year, like Legacy Australia, Hearts in UnionBarnados, Fight Cancer Foundation.
And with that, we farewell 2014 and welcome in the New Year. I hope you can spend it close to the ones you love and I wish everyone the success and happiness you all deserve in 2015.
